Here's a small collection of projects from my early days as a freelancer at Wunderman UK. It was an exciting time and working with such a range of genre's really developed me as a composer. I'd never considered writing gypsy jazz in the fashion of Django Reinhardt, but doing so introduced me to new chord structures and progressions that I still use today.
The Kuga "Blank Canvas" has always been a particular favourite. I'd previously sampled an entire Javanese Gamelan at university but hadn't found a home for it. The Gamelan can be a tricky instrument to work with as it only contains 7 notes which aren't tuned to typical western scales, but with a little help courtesy of DRREX it provided the perfect lead for this twinkly ballad.
